To avoid a forced wedding, Brianna Munro runs to Glenloch Castle where she encounters Hugh Christie, earl of Newbury, laird of Glenloch. Brianna intends to make a new life in Scotland and pretends she's a traveling governess so he won't know her true identity and betray her to her guardian.
