This book presents Susanna Pozzoli's On the Block art project developed in New York's Harlem district between July 2007 and July 2009 - 66 photographs of the interiors of a single street block, 121st Street, running between Lenox Ave and Adam Clayton Powell Blvd, at a time of urban and social change. The artist was slowly accepted by the community and gained the residents' trust, acquiring access to many private spaces that she photographed on film with her Rolleiflex. While concentrating closely on the composition, she did not alter the contents of the interiors photographed and only used the light present. The photographs do not include portraits but show traces of the inhabitants in resonant and timeless surroundings. Text in English hItalian.
