Susan Loomis

Susan LoomisSusan Loomis is a cooking-school proprietor and has published five cookbooks. Extensive travel throughout the United States, France and Italy have allowed her to work alongside farmers, fisherman and merchants. Their rich traditions and methods with food, how it is grown, harvested and prepared, are the heart of her teaching and writing. Loomis believes that learning about cooking and food should involve much more than recipes and techniques. An appreciation for the mores, customs and beliefs surrounding food is infused in her depth of knowledge.
She began her writing career in the US before moving to Paris to attend the renowned culinary school, La Varenne Ecole Cuisine. With a Grand Diploma in hand, she opened a small caf in Paris and later embarked on a successful writing career spanning some twenty years. She is the author of six cookbooks, the most recent of which is On Rue Tatin, which will be published mid April, 2001.
