The farmers of Noy Thien village have enough of a war on their hands with the seasons, the monsoon and the soil - they have no reason to fight for anything else. But this is Vietnam and it's 1967. The country is divided and American troops have moved in. For thirteen-year-old Xuan and his family, their world is about to be turned upside down. Neighbours are fighting each other and no one is certain who the real enemy is. Can life for Xuan's family ever be the same again?

'Survivors' is a unique collection of fictional stories about young people caught up in real-life conflicts and disasters. Through their eyes we experience the day-to-day hardships and dangers of living through troubled times.
