Now keen surfing dinosaurs in modern times, Sid (or Surfasaurus as his mate Dally calls him) and Dally head far out to sea to ride a huge bombora, or underwater reef. But on the way they realise they’re not alone as the unfriendly fins of tiger sharks surround them.
Eager to escape the danger, Surfasaurus and Dally jump onto a huge wave which takes them into shore. Once on the beach, the dinousaurs see that the sharks have set their sights on another target, a pod of three whales, and the sharks are chasing the whales into shore.
The three whales beach themselves on the sand beside Sid and Dally so the dinosaurs set about trying to get the whales back out to sea, using all their special techniques along the way. First they perform their dinosaur STOMP which brings on a wave big enough to send the two smaller whales on their way, but it’s the help of a rip that gets the third whale safely out to the ocean’s deeper waters.
And what a ‘thank you’ the whales give to Sid and Dally!
In this, the second Surfasaurus title, Ben Brown continues to build up the world of the surfing dinosaurs brilliantly with his vibrant, funky illustrations.
