The Sunday Afternoon Watercolor Society (SAWS) was started over 20 years ago in the San Francisco Bay Area by founder John Kriken. John, an prolific architect and professor with UC Berkeley, has archived his paintings since SAWS conception and releases them now in one exclusive art book. The Sunday Afternoon Watercolor Society: San Francisco Impressions has over 100 original watercolor pieces from Mr. Kriken, wherein you can also find how to purchase the original pieces outright, and all proceeds go to the Katherine and John Lund Kriken Graduate Student Award at U.C. Berkeley College of Environmental Design. AUTHOR: John Lund Kriken is an internationally known city planner and urban designer and the founder of SOM's San Francisco-based Urban Design bPlanning Studio. He served as a general partner from 1994-2004. His professional experience has ranged from plans for new cities to downtowns and neighborhoods, as well as to campus plans for leading corporations and universities. Mr. Kriken's work has won more than 20 national design awards from Progressive Architecture, the American Institute of Architects, and the American Society of Landscape Architects, among others. He has taught urban design at the University of California, Berkeley, Rice University, and Washington University, and has served on numerous arts and community boards, design review panels, and design award juries. He is the founding member of the 34-year-old Sunday Afternoon Watercolor Society.
