This audio recording of 'Sugar In The Blood' is extracted from Bill Oliver's autobiography of the same name. It tells of Oliver's lifelong career with the Colonial Sugar Refinery (CSR), the company which took him from Sydney to the sugar mills of Queensland.
Bill Oliver was born in Bombay in 1927 and at the age of six was sent to Australia to be cared for by an aunt and uncle in Narrandera, New South Wales. He spent a very happy childhood there and then at the age of sixteen he joined CSR as a junior sugar chemist.
This audio presentation read by Drew Forsythe contains not only the author's observations on the operations of the sugar industry, but also some of the more light-hearted excerpts from the book.
