The Nile is the longest river in the world. Starting in the hills of Burundi and ending at the Mediterranean Sea nearly 7,000 kilometres (4,350 miles) later, it passes through spectacular gorges and waterfalls, tropical forests, a vast papyrus swamp, arid deserts, a huge artificial lake, and a fertile floodplain. It gave birth to one of the world's oldest and greatest civilisations, and his witnessed the rise and fall of many rules, religions, and empires.
As you journey along the Nile, you will see the magnificent buildings that line its banks - temples, churches and mosques, pyramids and fortresses - as well as busy villages and teeming ports. You'll get a fascinating glimpse into the daily lives of Ugandan villagers, Nubian soldiers, and Egyptian fellahin.
With so much activity - and a pelican to search for on every page - the more you look, the more you'll see!
