At the end of the Marvel Comic that precedes this book, the X-Men find themselves stranded in the Star Trek: The Next Generation universe. As Captain Picard and the TNG crew are trying to get them home, a distress call comes in from a Federation planet that is suffering an outbreak of superhumans that is disrupting their society. The X-Men volunteer to help the TNG crew bring peace to the planet and fight off a hidden alien threat that has been building for years.
