An investigative mission to examine a rift turns deadly when the U.S.S. Enterprise crew discovers a ship floating dead in space - with the minds of its crew totally inactive. The crew finds they have stumbled upon a creature that feeds off the mind power of individuals, leaving bodies that are physically normal, but mentally incapacitated. Now, Data is the only one who can carry out Captain Picard's plan to stop the creature before it continues its rampage of destruction.
