The Chelsea School Research Centre Edition originated in
the advanced scholarship and research undertaken in CSRC
as it consolidated and developed its national and
international research networks. It brings together state-
of-the art scholarship and research in sport sociology,
sport sciences, leisure studies and physical education.
This book looks of the importance of sport in countries
which are particularly affected by social division. Sport
is used as a window through which the relationship
between national identity, nationalism, ethnicity and
sporting expression in cultural settings is explored.
Several studies of societies seek to show how sport
contributes to a social change and how easily it can be
manipulated.
