Audrey Ina knows she is only one of a handful of Jews living in Blue Gap - a sleepy Southern town. But she's never experienced any real anti-semitism until her daddy gets involved in helping a black man join the local police force. Suddenly, all the town's racist feelings explode, landing squarely on Audrey's family. Among the harm done is the terror it awakens in Audrey's Tante (Aunt) Pesel, a holocaust survivor who is filled with bitter memories of anti-semitism at the hands of the Nazis. Along with Audrey, we watch her father fight for what he believes is right, and her aunt come to terms with her past. And we see a girl learn the importance of tolerance, empathy, and standing up for one's beliefs - no matter what the consequences.
