Delphine, a young Danish woman, is deeply moved by a painting by the French artist, Jean-Luc Forreur. She cannot resist writing to the artist to tell him. And he cannot resist replying. Over the next eighteen months, their correspondence develops. As she becomes ever more deeply enmeshed Delphine bares her soul layer by layer, and leaves herself vulnerable to the middle-aged painter's cryptic replies and silences. Eventually a meeting can no longer be postponed . . .
