Tom lives on a farm. He has a new goat, Ernie, who is like no goat Tom has ever known. Ernie hates being penned up, and bleats constantly. He wants to be with Jody, the farm's dog. He even chews bones and chases sticks like a dog!
But Ernie the dog goat is much more trouble than a dog. He eats everything, including the washing on the line and all the vegetables in the vegie garden! Tom's parents tell him that if Ernie can't be penned up, they'll have to give him away. Luckily, Ernie has another talent. He turns out to be the best watchdog ever.
