Reich's soldiers, fighting on Normand coast, were unequally valorous. Except Waffen-SS and paratroopers, the elite troops, only a few armoured fighting divisions or Heer infantry divisions showed greater readyness to fight. Coastal batteries, handled by bombs shower, have had difficulties to counter-attack. Nevertheless, after the landing's surprise, German soldiers fighted toughly, knowing the Allies would require an unconditionnal surrender. Illustrated
