It is 7.05am, Saturday, 28 June, 1997. A winter morning has broken over Sydney, and a police search for Mr Roni Levi is seven minutes old. Ten seconds later, an officer from North Bondi station reports to radio: "I've got that person up here on Bondi Beach on the corner in front of the surf club. I'm just going over there to approach him now."
Mr Levi has 26 minutes to live; four shots are fired at 7.31am, killing him instantly.
The intention of this book is to present the facts of the Levi case in a manner which treats the reader as if they were members of a jury - in a similar vein to 'Midnight In The Garden Of Good And Evil'. 'Shoot And Demonise' covers one of the most controversial issues in Australian police history and opens discussion about the taboo topic of schizophrenia. A riveting and disturbing book which reads like a thriller.
