The Civil War is over, but for twelve-year-old Will Page Yankees are still enemies, responsible for the deaths of his family. Now he's forced to leave the town where he's lived his whole life and move to his uncle's farm - his Uncle Jed, who Will regards as a traitor and coward for his refusal to fight the Yankees.
