Read by Annette Crosbie
When the widowed Mrs Dashwood and her three daughters are forced to move to a small cottage in the country, romance blooms. The impetuous Marianne falls wildly in love with the impecunious but very handsome John Willoughby and it seems as though an engagement is imminent. However, with his abrupt departure for London, Marianne's dreams are shattered.
Meanwhile Elinor's hopes with Edward Ferrers have also suffered a severe setback. But, whilst Marianne's heartbreak and disappointment are plain to see, Elinor's more stoic approach hides her aching heart.
