Making a Fortune, New Money and Old Families, Inheritance Anxiety.
Between November 1998 and September 2000, Michael Gilding interviewed 50 individuals drawn from the 'Business Review Weekly' Rich Lists. The people he chose to interview were worth at least $60 million; in most cases a great deal more. Michael went to the interviews with several burning questions on his mind: Who were the "super rich"?; How did they amass their fortunes?; and How did their wealth affect their relationships with others and society in general?
The answers, Michael discovered, were at times what he would have expected and at other times highly surprising. As the interviews progressed, he was able to uncover the themes and trends that link the wealthy to each other, and the factors that contribute to their individual successes. The result is a highly revealing book about a subject often taboo in today's society - the personal and professional secrets of the "super rich".
