Scream follows a dozen different characters whose stories overlap and collide over the course of a single weekend in Kingston-upon-Hull. The local fair is in town, bringing with it its yearly dose of excitement, nostalgia and optimism u an optimism which feels needed after the unprecedented and devastating summer floods. Among those we meet are a young woman, mentally unstable after the death of her sister, who breaks out of her care home on the outskirts of the city; the sister's boyfriend, a guilt-wracked 18-year-old blamed for her death; a 60-year old widow who seeks companionship on the internet but finds only betrayal; a weekend transsexual out for a big night on the town while his mother dies in hospital; a taxi diver who manages to avert a midnight suicide attempt on the Humber Bridge; and a married couple whose relationship is as full of secrets as it is of tension.
