Easy Summer Scrambles and Winter Climbs
The Peak District National Park contains a wealth of beautiful, interesting and often unexpected places to visit. Being so close to the major cities of Sheffield, Manchester, Derby and Nottingham it has been a very important area for walking and climbing for over 100 years. As a result, there are many well established footpaths criss-crossing the Peak District that provide reasonably straightforward access to the most popular locations and summits in the area. The aim of this guidebook, however, is to suggest alternative and more entertaining ways onto the moorland tops. Making use of gullies and other interesting features, these routes provide 'hands-on' ascents for all seasons which can be linked together for a longer day out. Over 40 scrambles are described here with many links, variants and extensions, all illustrated with large-scale OS mapping, so walkers can plan exactly the length and grade of route they want.
