Scarlett Hooft Graafland is a photographer who captures the surreal beauty of unusual, remote landscapes. Her work has taken her to far-reaching corners of the globe, befriending native people as she goes and gathering inspiration from local mythology for her striking, often humorous images. This beautiful book features her collection from Altiplano, Bolivia, the most extensive area of high plateau on Earth outside of Tibet. AUTHOR: Alain-Paul Mallard (1970) was born and raised in Mexico City, studied Hispanic Literatures in his native city, and then studied European Intellectual History in Toronto. Tempted by silence, he is the author of a short, highly concentrated body of work which includes the book Evocacion de Matthias Stimmberg (1995), as well as various contributions to literary journals. Since 1996, he has been living in Paris, where he studied film-making. L'origine de la tendresse, Evidences and L'adoption stand out among his films. ILLUSTRATIONS: 75 colour
