To start off, the writing style of Matthew Reilly is fast-flowing. The kind of book that throws you from line to line without even noticing how much you've read. Considering it's one of his oldest, you'll find it jam-packed full of ridiculous escapes and action scenes too extraordinary to be in a triple-A movie title.
