Nick, Katie and Laura are delighted when a new boy moves into the house next door and can't wait to meet him. But Kit is being hidden in the house to protect him from kidnappers and is not uspposed to be seen. A secret friendship builds up between them and when Nick overhears a plan for the kidnap being hatched, the children must devise an ingenious escape for Kit.
