Resiliency is the buzzword thrown around educational circles as the ability for children facing challenges to adapt and overcome those challenges. Unlike the current books on the market--this isn't a social theory book. This is a book of individual stories of students with special needs and how they overcame them with the help of their educators. It gives insight into the process of reaching students as individuals and helps them strengthen and grow and achieve on their own. When faced with special education students, many teachers despair on how to manage the class and to engage and reach each of the students. They're frequently given no guidance on how to do so and expected to bring the up to classrooms standards dictated by No Child Left Behind. Dr. Lisa Medoff is a consultant with the Cleo Eulau Center which focuses on helping teachers build resilience not only in their students but in the teachers themselves.
