This is a tale of family survival, first against natural forces, later in the cut-throat show business world. The Chambers family: Bill, Diane, Nash and Kasey, have lived their own, uniquely Australian version of Swiss Family Robinson. This is their story as they make the move from a nomadic life into one of Australia's most treasured musical exports.
In 1976 they took to the Nullarbor Plain to earn a living hunting foxes, relocating to a small South Australian fishing village during the hottest months. In 1986, after returning to civilisation, the Chambers formed the Dead Ringer Band. By 1992 they were full-time musicians, playing nationally to big city music lovers as well as rural and outback audiences. During the '90s Dead Ringer Band earned two ARIAs, five MO Awards and seven Golden Guitars at Tamworth. In May of 1999, lead singer Kasey Chambers stepped out as a solo artist, issuing 'The Captain', now certified for double-platinum sales.
'Red Desert Sky' is a remarkable, courageous story about a family that is simply one of a kind.
