The second edition of Receptive Music Therapy builds on the foundations of the first but provides a completely new rendition. It is replete with examples about contemporary practices with young people and recognises the value of online music therapy experiences. Similar to the inaugural edition, the authors describe how music therapists select music from a wide range of diverse musical styles. They include considerations for expert choices made by the therapist, collaborative decision making and client-led approaches to music selection. On this foundation, subsequent chapters describe relevant concepts underpinning each specific method, rich descriptions of the method, practice vignettes, and contraindications for using music in these ways. Methods include focused music listening, playlist construction, lyric analysis, relaxation, music, and imagery.
