This book features over 550 plants from the tropical rainforest, subtropical rainforest, dry inland rainforest and some of the eucalpyt and wet sclerophyll forests adjoining the rainforest. The marginal species have been included as, due to changing attitudes to control burning in some areas, the rainforest is spreading and at times open forest remnants can be found in pockets surrounded by rainforest.
You are introduced to plants ranging from ferns and herbaceous ground plants, epiphytes and vines, to understorey trees and the elite emergent trees unique to the magnificent rainforests of eastern Australia. The species featured in this book can be found in the northern rainforests, while some are limited to a particular area and are therefore endemic. A large number of endemic species are found in the Clarke Ranges at Eungella, west of Mackay.
