In 1890 a strange child custody case came before the court. Against all odds a tiny child was rescued from the wreckage of the British East India vessel, "Quetta", which struck rocks and sank, killing 130 in three horrific minutes. A young Ceylonese steward, Mutassa Clarke, rescued the girl, calling her "Quetta". But who was she? Her name and parental background were a mystery. Mutassa wanted to adopt her but so did the old ship's captain.
This stunning historical picture book brings Gary Crew together with acclaimed illustrator Bruce Whatley.
