A delightful portrait of an unusual and colourful character, based on the archives at Windsor and the India Office Library.
Deposed from the Punjab, the quixotic Duleep Singh converted to Christianity and bought an estate in East Anglia, becoming one of the best shots in the country and a favourite of Queen Victoria who acquired his spectacular koh-I-noor diamond. However, his extravagance and the parsimony of the India Office then led him to declare a holy war to recover his homeland from the British Empire.
