Alex Webster's fast track life as an investigative reporter for the New York Times is put on hold when one of her informants, a 7-year-old boy, is killed for leaking information to her. Determined to regain her byline and the much needed respect of her co-workers, Alex embarks on an undercover assignment to investigate Steve Chapman, a former boxer turned millionaire who is under suspicion for killing his wife.
Since Leslie Chapman's alleged suicide, Steve and their son Ollie, who hasn't spoken since he witnessed his mother's plunge to her death, have been isolated on their private island with only the help of one employee, Roger Merrick. Roger convinces Steve they need help tending the horses and thus Alex finds her in - using her undercover alias she's hired as their horse trainer.
Isolated with the elusive, enigmatic millionaire and his lovable child, Alex finds she must choose between her need to prove her talent as a reporter and her growing desire to believe Steve Chapman and welcome him into her life.
