Untitled
Angelfall follows the story of Penryn, a teenage girl, in a time following the end of the world as we know it. The world has been brought down by the angels, who are hell bent on destroying the human race because God's messenger Michael, said it to be true... For years, I saw this book on the shelf and I always thought it would be a mediocre love story with angels and I never picked it up... and it wasn't until a colleague recommended it to me that I changed my mind. I still went in with low to no expectations but lo and behold, I was blown away. I was so wrong to judge a book by it's cover because Angelfall has to be one of the most well written novels I have come across in quite some time AND it does not revolve around some terrible love story. Penryn is one bad-ass chick whose main concern is finding her little sister and making sure her insane mother doesn't go too much further off the deep end. And although the book is set in a "post apocalyptic world", there are so many relevant themes to our current world. I love that Penryn teams up with Raffe, an angel, and that they are indifferent towards each other but have common goals, and although she touches on him being beautiful, there isn't much sexual tension and the book follows a story of action and consequence which is a refreshing change to most paranormal novels. I loved this book in it's entirety and devoured it in a day. Now to read the next 2 books in the series!! - Lisa (QBD)
