"One of the best books to come out of the Rock Scene," was Publishers' Weekly's assessment of Richard Williams' brilliant portrait of Phil Spector. The book was originally published in 1972, and has now been updated to include Spector's work over the following three decades and the bizarre circumstances surrounding the shooting of Lana Clarkson at Spector's Los Angeles mansion on 3 February 2003.
In researching his book on Spector, Richard spent time with the man himself, having been introduced to him by mutual friend John Lennon. He also spoke to many of Spector's working colleagues, many of whom have since died.
