The twentieth edition of the PHotoEspana festival will take place between 31 May and 27 August, 2017. For PHotoEspana, this twentieth anniversary is a wonderful opportunity to take a step forward, two decades after its birth. The festival is part of a changing world: during the past twenty years photography has evolved enormously. The digital world has also given provided new dimensions to the arts, as well as to the way they are communicated and presented before society. This offers a great opportunity for the festival s evolution. The celebration of the twentieth anniversary during the next two years 2017, in which the twentieth edition will take place, and 2018, PHotoEspana s birth anniversary poses a perfect opportunity to pursue new ideas and investments aimed to strengthen the festival, both nationally and internationally. We tackle the celebration of the festival s twentieth edition and birth anniversary by looking over the significance of these two decades in the sphere of photography and visual arts. PHotoEspana looks towards the past, the present and also towards the signs from the future. National names and tendencies continue to coexist with international ones. Renowned figures coincide with others that are unknown until now. A sum that, from each particular viewpoint, provides a unique, different and new vision to the festival.
