Before becoming a broadcaster, Peter Alliss was a professional golfer of considerable ability, like his famous father Percy. During a long and distinguished career he won twenty-three tournaments including three British PGA championships and the Italian, Spanish (twice), Brazilian and Portuguese Opens. He also represented Great Britain eight times in the Ryder Cup, ten times in the World Cup and three times in the Great Britain versus Europe matches.
Alliss has been integrally involved with the structure of gold in the UK, presiding over both the Women's PGA and the British Greenkeepers' Association and serving as Captain of the PGA. To round off his gold expertise, Peter has also designed more than sixty fine and challenging courses around the world, including The Belfry in Warwickshire, The Seve Club in Japan, La Baule in Brittany and, recently, the Marquis course at Woburn in Bedfordshire.
He is an accomplished author of more than twenty books and writes regularly for Golf World and Golf International magazines.
