Eddi McCandry lives in Minneapolis and plays guitar in a rock'n'roll band. Or at least she did until they split after a disastrous gig. Her night doesn't improve any when she's followed home by a fierce black dog. A talking dog, it turns out, who says that he's now her bodyguard. Why? Because Eddi's just been drafted into a war between the courts of the Seelie and the Unseelie. A faerie war that needs a mortal at its heart to make it true, real and deadly.
