Beautiful, lonely Iran, recently arrived in Israel from India, meets Solly, a shy, gentle fisherman, one evening by the sea. It is the beginning of life long love. Iran's mother stitches 5,854 pearls on to her wedding dress and with 5,754 of them, they buy a tiny flat shaded by guava trees.
There they have five children; Maurice the first-born, outshone by his glamorous sisters; Sofia, who wants luxury and a rich husband; Marcelle, the clever one always buried in a romantic novel; Lizzie, who fantasises about sex at a shockingly young age and Matti, the baby. Surrounded by their parents' passion, the children grow up longing to fall in love. Only to discover that the dreams they have, will not always mirror the lives they must live.
