Under the aegis of Children's Literature New England, writers and sholars have met annually for over ten years on university campuses on both sides of the Atlantic to discuss books as remarkable in narrative structure as in their insight into children's lives.
The essays in this collection were delivered at these annual Children's Literature New England programs. The names of the contributors are stellar: Susan Cooper, Margaret Mahy, Sharon Creech, Gillian Cross, Tom Feelings, Ursula K. LeGuin, Madeleine L'Engle, Pat O-Shea, Katherine Paterson, Jill Paton Walsh, Maurice Sendak, Daniel Terris, and Diana Wynne Jones. The collections includes biographies of the contributors, a passage that defines the theme or context of the program in which the talk was given, and a black-and-white photograph of the contributor.
