In the newly published volume Heartland, Oda Jaune dedi-cates a retrospective of her work to the country of her birth, Bulgaria. The companion exhibition took place in the National Gallery in Sofia. This extensive catalogue features a selection of works by the Paris-based artist, which are characterized by complex visual worlds that fluctuate between beauty and dis-turbance. The publication also documents the monumental sculpture The Caress, which was temporarily placed in a vari-ety of places throughout the country, opening up an intense dialogue between art and nature in public space. Along with works from the early phase of her career, the comprehensive monograph also features current paintings, sculptures, and watercolors, accompanied by essays.
