In July 1990 something awesome stirred in Lucerne, Switzerland - an Australian coxless four won the European rowing championships and stunned the world with their record-breaking time.
In November 1990 this crew, now tagged the Oarsome Foursome, won the world championships and their seemingly effortless improvements had the rowing world shaking their heads in disbelief. By 1992 they had become one of the most important gold-winning hope Australia had ever sent to the Olympics . . . and the rest is history! The Oarsome Foursome's achievements now include two Olympic gold medals, two world championship gold medals and three European chamionship gold medals - but it has not been easy.
Mike McKay, Nick Green, James Tomkins and Drew Ginn talk frankly of their experiences; the training, the coaches, the travelling and the delicate balance needed to turn four strong personalities into an awe-inspiring and seamless rowing unit. They also talk candidly about the pressure of being champions, from the high expectaions placed on these Olympic hopefuls to the demand of public appearances.
