This volume of photographs of Nottingham's public houses includes many notable inns, for which the city is famous. In addition to the most historic hostelries, this collection of archive images also records many of the back street pubs which disappeared in the 1970s when whole district of the city were cleared. The majority of the city's public houses at the time were tied to either the Home Brewery or Shipstone's - the local breweries - the beer of each having its adherents. Also included are a number of photographs of landlords and their patrons either celebrating or drowning their sorrows at the closing of their local.
