The New International Version is the world's most popular modern English Bible translation. When translating from the original languages, the team of translators held to four key principles:
- Accuracy of the text which is faithful to the original languages
- Beauty of expression in keeping with the nature of the Bible
- Clarity of words and meaning aid understanding
- Dignity of expression in keeping with the nature of the Bible.
This edition has been revised to provide a sensitive and balanced gender-inclusive text. Where terms used in the original languages refer to both men and women but the translation into English uses a word which has become exclusively masculine, the translation has been revised to reflect the original.
