California's idyllic wine country is the scene of a real-life Halloween shocker when a former beauty queen and her roommate are found brutally stabbed to death in their Napa home.
On Halloween night, 2004, two young women one of them a beauty queen were stabbed to death by an intruder who entered their home through a first -floor window. The twin murders were of course shocking, but even more so because of where they occurred -- the city of Napa, California, the idyllic capital of one of the world's most beautiful wine countries.
The community was aghast and frightened that a serial killer or a satanic cult might be on the loose. But were the murders indeed random or were they directed at one of the young women? A guessing game began in the Napa community. Which one of the women was the intended target? The betting was that the killer had been going after the beauty queen. She was, after all, the new girl in town and had left a trail of broken-hearted men in her wake. The second victim was a local woman who had been raised in the nearby town of Calistoga.
As the murder investigation dragged on from weeks to months, no one was more frightened than the third young woman who had been in the house that night. She had escaped the killer only to find her two close friends bleeding to death. She could protect herself from obvious threats but what if the killer was not a stranger but someone from the inner circle, someone who knew all three of the women all too well?
