The year was 2014. We had cured cancer. We had beaten the common cold. But in doing so we created something new, something terrible that no one could stop. The infection spread, virus blocks taking over bodies and minds with one, unstoppable command: FEED.Now, twenty years after the Rising, bloggers Georgia and Shaun Mason are on the trail of the biggest story of their lives - the dark conspiracy behind the infected. Whilst 'Feed' can technically be described as a post zombie-apocolypse, it's so much more. It's political intrigue, it's the future of America in social media, it's pure, well-designed science fiction. Gone are the boring zombies with a hunger for brains and instead in their place is a brilliant scientific explanation. Two medical advances (the cure for cancer and the cure for the common cold) combined and mutated several decades ago to affect all mammallian life. Grant builds this world beautifully with a rigorous system of blood tests, side-effects, stats and numbers that all work together seamlessly to make the 'zombies' of the novel and the world that evolves as a result. Our narrator is Georgia Mason, a blogger who is hired with her teammates as the first blog-team to cover the American Presidential campaign. However, as things are wont to do, the journey soon takes a turn for the disastrous when it's discovered that someone is weaponising the zombies in a manner that can only be described as biological warfare. An absolute must-read, pick up 'Feed' today for a zombie-book you'll devour. - Caitlin (QBD)
