There are twenty-seven books in the New Testament that were accepted as the canon by church councils in the early fourth century, but there were other books which were considered to hold errors. Over the past century, many of those texts that were lost have been found and translated. These are considered by the church as gnostic gospels. In 'A New New Testament' Hal Taussig seeks to challenge that. This "New Testament", and the accompanying commentary, wishes to contribute to the centuries-old debate. AUTHOR: Hal Taussig is a pastor, professor of biblical literature and early Christianity, founding member of the Jesus Seminar, and the author of numerous books. He teaches at Union Theological Seminary in New York and the Reconstructionist Rabbinical College.
