'Net Force Explorers' is a brilliant high-tech adventure series created by Tom Clancy and Steve Pieczenik.
In the year 2025 the Internet practically runs the world, and its virtual reality webwork has to be policed by Net Force to prevent terrorists from sabotaging it. But sometimes they need help. Which is where the Net Force Explorers come in, the young people's auxiliary for computer whiz-kids who have made it through a tough training programme.
When Net Force Explorer Maj Green finds out that her family are going to be taking in a teenage guest from Eastern Europe called Laurent Darenko, she's excited and intrigued. But Laurent is no ordinary boy. His father, Dr Armin Darenko, was responsible for developing nanomachines, tiny implants that can perform delicate medical work - but chose prison rather than allow this technology to be turned into weapons.
With Laurent safely abroad, Dr Darenko knows the agents of his government can't blackmail him into revealing his secrets. But when Laurent starts exploring the world of virtual reality, he lays himself open to attack, and suddenly Maj and her fellow Net Force Explorers find themselves playing a deadly game of cat and mouse within her friend's virtual self.
