The art world is on the move. As part of a critical reassessment of European-American art in an international context, many previously marginalised showplaces have been gaining the attention they are due - including the Nepalese capital, Kathmandu. In a large arc from modernism to the vibrant most recent present, the Weltmuseum in Vienna honoured the outstanding art of Nepal. The exhibition showed how local and global cultures continuously pervade one another and, simultaneously, how Nepalese artists give expression to their own identity. 282 colour, 3 b/w images
