Russell Mockridge is Australian sporting royalty with a string of Olympic and Commonwealth Games cycling medals, national titles and records, and professional road race victories in Europe, topped by his completion of the brutal 1955 edition of the Tour de France. Recognition of Mockridge's achievements is undergoing a resurgence, culminating in his induction in the Cycling Australia Hall of Fame in 2015. Mockridge won two gold medals in a single day at the Helsinki Olympics
