A Sequel to 'Jane Eyre'
On the death of her husband, Mr Rochester, Jane Eyre accepts an invitation from her cousin Diana Fitzjames to visit her in her new colonial home in the south seas. Diana and her family live on Oblivion Island near Glasstown, a town not unlike early colonial Auckland. Jane's introduction to the family begins uncompromisingly, but she soon becomes a confidante to others on the island as well as the subject of unwelcome attentions from an admirer.
Relishing the freedom and natural beauty of her new home, she enjoys long walks and unexpectedly witnesses a developing relationship that places her in an awkward dilemma. For Jane, however, love is to be found in an unexpected quarter, but only after misunderstanding, scandal and tragedy.
