Using the president and his party's thirst for campaign contributions, a group of terrorists have gained access to the White House. In a horrifying daylight raid they seize the building and kill dozens. Through the quick actions of the Secret Service, the president is evacuated to his bunker beneath the White House, but almost one hundred hostages are taken.
While the politicians and the military leaders argue over how to deal with the terrorists, one man gets in to find out what is going on. Mitch Rapp, the CIA's top counter-terrorism agent, sneaks into the Executive Mansion and soon discovers that the president is not as safe as they had thought. Trying to avoid detection by the terrorists, Rapp scrambles to find a way to save the hostages before the terrorists can extract the president from the safety of his bunker.
In his race against time, Rapp soon discovers that the terrorists are not the only thing he has to worry about.
